On the 19th of March the Palestinian Return Centre took part in the 37th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The PRC met with Mr. Michael Lynk, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967 to brief about PRC latest researches and activities.
The PRC shed light on the challenges facing Palestinian refugees inside Palestine and in the diaspora, with special focus on the deteriorating condition in West Bank.
Mr Lynk informed the PRC in regards to his upcoming reports and the themes he intends to discuss.
Later on the same day, the PRC delivered an oral statement during the open session of Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the OPT attended by the members of the Human Rights Council (available for you to watch in full here: http://webtv.un.org/watch/id-sr-on-palestinian-territories-43rd-meeting-37th-regular-session-human-rights-council-/5754553994001/#).
PRC’s statement welcomed the report of the SR focusing on the right to health under the longest military occupation on the modern world.
PRC also called on the council to expand the SR mandate so to allow him to investigate Israeli violation against Palestinian citizens of Israel and Palestinian refugees in the diaspora.
