PRC Addresses UN Human Rights Council over Israel’s Deliberate Disregard of In’l Law

The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) in London delivered an oral statement as part of Agenda Item 2 of the UN Human Rights Council (55th) regular session held in Geneva.

The statement sounded alarm bells over Israel’s consistent and deliberate violations of international law for over 75 years, and especially the last 140 days.

“For the past 140 days, Israel has militarily bombarded the besieged Gaza strip with as many bombs as the equivalent of two Hiroshima atomic bombs. It has used outlawed white phosphorus on Palestinian civilians and has engaged in the collective punishment of Gaza’s population - by blocking all access to food, water, electricity and fuel, as well as blocking access to vital humanitarian aid”, the statement read.

PRC added that Israel has violently displaced the vast majority of Gaza’s population and targeted all of Gaza’s core infrastructure, including hospitals, water desalination plants, schools, universities, historical and cultural sites.

“Israel has routinely acted with impunity whilst it violates the human rights of the 2.3 million Palestinians living in Gaza, human rights enshrined in the UN’s Declaration of Human Rights”, said PRC delegate.

PRC called on members of the council to condemn Israel's consistent disregard and violations of international law.
