The Palestinian Return Centre has raised alarm bells over the relentless Israeli attacks on humanitarian convoys and queues in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
In an oral statement delivered at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Item 7 discussion session, PRC said: “Time and again, innocent civilians lining up for humanitarian aid face brutal aggressions, often resulting in loss of life. Palestinian people have been found dead next to a bag of flour or a food parcel.”
PRC said that, on Feb. 29, thousands of Palestinians gathered on a stretch of seaside road in Gaza City to receive a much-anticipated aid shipment. Over 100 were killed and hundreds more injured by Israeli soldiers.
“The systematic targeting of humanitarian convoys and queues is a grave violation of international law, which unequivocally protects civilians in times of conflict and occupation”, added PRC.
The Centre urged the international community and the Human Rights Council to speak out against these egregious violations and hold Israel accountable for its blatant disregard for human life and dignity.
