PRC Forwards Briefing on Israeli Massacre in Rafah to UK Politicians, UN Human Rights Council

The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) in London passed around a briefing entitled “New Israeli genocidal Massacre on Rafah’s Displaced Civilians” to a number of UK politicians and members of the UN Human Rights Council.

The briefing referred to last week’s Israeli airstrike that caused a huge fire at tent camp for displaced people in Rafah which killed 45 people, with images of charred and dismembered children prompting international condemnation.

Witnesses said that a camp sheltering civilians in Rafah’s Tal as-Sultan area was deliberately targeted and that the dead included women and children, with many burned alive inside their tents.

EU’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, the head of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, and United Nations experts, condemned these barbaric attacks as flagrant violations of international law and an attack on human decency and collective humanity.

The briefing called on the international community to take all available measures to end the Israeli genocidal military campaign against Palestinians in Gaza, including by supporting the ICC arrest warrants for war crimes, the ICJ’s case to charge Israel of the crime of genocide, impose economic sanctions and firm accountability measures until a ceasefire is imposed.
