The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) is distributing a crucial briefing to UN delegates and officials regarding the tragic events of June 8, 2024, in the Al-Nusairat refugee camp in Gaza. On this day, Israeli special forces, with support from the United States, conducted a military operation that resulted in a massacre of hundreds of Palestinian civilians.
According to Gaza’s health ministry, at least 274 Palestinians were killed, and 698 were wounded in Israeli strikes on the Nuseirat camp. The EU’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, termed the events a “massacre,” while the UN’s aid chief described scenes of “shredded bodies on the ground.”
The IDF, in coordination with the US, constructed a floating pier known as ‘Joint Logistics Over-the Shore’ on the coast of Gaza, ostensibly for aid delivery. However, Palestinian reports and footage reveal that Israeli forces used this pier to infiltrate the Nuseirat camp under the guise of humanitarian aid, resulting in the deadly operation to retrieve hostages.
UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese condemned this act as "humanitarian camouflage," a crime of perfidy under international law. British journalist Johnathan Cook warned that this “humanitarian pier” might be used for further ethnic cleansing of Gaza's Palestinians.
