On the sidelines of the 56th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) met separately with representatives from Norway and Ireland missions to the UN to discuss key issues affecting the Palestinian people.
PRC expressed profound gratitude to both countries for their recognition of the state of Palestine and urged them to take further steps to support Palestinian rights and sovereignty.
PRC told the delegations that this acknowledgment is a crucial step toward ensuring the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people and called them on to urge their governments to take concrete actions to support Palestinian right to self-determination.
However, they also acknowledged the challenges that come with such recognition, including political pushback from countries opposed to Palestinian statehood and the complexities of navigating international diplomacy.
The discussions also focused on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, particularly in light of recent Israeli military actions and atrocities that have resulted in significant loss of life and widespread destruction.
PRC emphasized the urgent need for robust international intervention to halt the ongoing Israeli crimes and to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressing the necessity for immediate international action to provide relief and push for a ceasefire.
The meetings turned to the broader context of Israeli aggression. PRC representatives called for a re-evaluation of international policies towards Israel, including arms trading, advocating for more stringent measures to hold Israel accountable for its crimes.
