PRC Delivers Oral Statement at UN Human Rights Council, Highlights Israeli Atrocities in Palestine

Geneva– The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) delivered an oral statement during the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), agenda item2, addressing the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.

PRC thanked the High Commissioner for their report, which highlights Israel’s widespread atrocities against Palestinians in Gaza, constituting crimes of genocide. PRC's statement underscored the alarming rise in Israeli human rights violations in the occupied West Bank, including collective punishment, gender-based violence, arbitrary detention, torture, and ill-treatment.

PRC further stressed the report’s findings that serious concerns persist regarding the capacity and willingness of the Israeli justice system to ensure accountability and adhere to international legal standards. Israel has systematically failed to investigate instances of unlawful conduct by its occupation forces, perpetuating a cycle of impunity.

Echoing the report’s recommendations, PRC called for immediate measures to guarantee the return of all displaced Palestinians to their homes in Gaza by ensuring safe conditions and adequate alternatives for those whose homes have been destroyed.
