The PRC report documents the systematic targeting of Gaza’s healthcare system as part of Israel’s ongoing assault since October 7, 2023. It details how hospitals, clinics, and medical infrastructure were deliberately bombed, while medical personnel were assassinated, arrested, or forcibly disappeared. These attacks, which violate international humanitarian law, have crippled Gaza’s healthcare system, leaving hundreds of thousands without access to life-saving treatment.
According to the report, at least 34 hospitals and 80 health centers were completely destroyed, with 162 other healthcare facilities rendered inoperative. Ambulances and emergency response teams were also targeted, further preventing urgent medical aid. The siege on Gaza included blocking medical supplies and fuel, exacerbating the crisis and leading to thousands of preventable deaths.
Medical professionals were systematically attacked, with 1,068 healthcare workers killed and 331 arrested or disappeared. Many specialists, including cardiologists, pediatricians, and surgeons, were deliberately assassinated, further crippling healthcare services. Reports indicate that detained doctors faced severe torture, with some executed in Israeli prisons.
This targeted destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system has deepened the humanitarian crisis, forcing mass displacement and leaving millions without medical care. The report calls for urgent international intervention, including legal accountability for war crimes, the immediate protection of medical personnel and infrastructure, and sustained humanitarian support to rebuild Gaza’s health sector.
