PRC Writes to MPs Urging Support for Corbyn’s Initiative to Launch an Independent Inquiry into the UK Govt’s Role in the Gaza Genocide

London – The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) has written to Members of Parliament to urge their support for MP Jeremy Corbyn’s initiative, introduced under the Ten-Minute Rule on 4 June 2025, calling for an independent public inquiry into the UK government’s involvement in Israeli military operations against the Gaza Strip, operations that legal experts and human rights organisations have described as amounting to genocide.

In his speech before Parliament, Corbyn outlined the scale and horror of the crimes being committed, noting that over 61,000 people have been killed, including children, and that bombing has systematically targeted critical infrastructure. He stated that “genocide is being broadcast live to the world.” He also pointed out that British-made weapons, F-35 parts, and the use of RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus have supported the attacks on Gaza.

The proposed bill includes several key demands, such as:

  • Disclosure of arms export licences granted to Israel and their use in Gaza.
  • Investigation into the role of British military bases in supporting operations.
  • Publication of any surveillance or intelligence data linked to the attacks.
  • Clarification on whether the government received legal advice regarding the classification of these events as genocide.
  • The motion has gained the support of over 40 MPs from across party lines, reflecting growing recognition within Parliament of the need for accountability.

PRC stressed that launching a transparent public inquiry is essential to ensuring the UK’s compliance with its obligations under the Genocide Convention and international law, and to prevent complicity in crimes against humanity.

PRC also calls on all British citizens who believe in justice and human rights to contact their local MPs and urge them to support the inquiry and demand accountability from the government for any role it may have played in the atrocities committed in Gaza.
